FROM DNA CELLS
TO PRISON CELLS
Cells Podcast is the first true crime podcast dedicated exclusively to Forensic Investigative Genetic Genealogy (FIGG). Each week, hosts Kasey and Cole, an aunt-and-niece duo, explore cold cases recently solved through public DNA databases and advanced family tree analysis.
But we go deeper than the science. Most cold cases solved through FIGG were committed by one-off offenders - individuals who killed once and never again. These cases challenge the myth that all offenders are repeat predators and force a more complex psychological question: what happens in the mind of someone who commits one irreversible act and then disappears into ordinary life?
At Cells, we examine both the forensic science and the behavioral psychology. Cells bridges forensic science, behavioral psychology, and investigative accountability. If you’re fascinated by where science meets justice, you're in the right place.

KASEY SPRINGATE
With a master's degree in psychology and over 15 years of experience within the criminal justice system, I approach these cases through both an investigative and a behavioral lens. I have advocated for victims, supervised sex offenders, and worked diligently to see that justice was served. As I pursue formal legal training and expand my investigative practice, my focus remains ensuring justice is not only delivered, but understood.

COLE SPRINGATE
My background is in tech and I have extensive experience in tracing genealogy, I approach these cases from a scientific lens. I am preparing for my board certification in genetic genealogy. This requires intensive training in DNA analysis, advanced genealogical research methodologies, and the legal frameworks essential to supporting criminal investigations. My focus for Cells is to raise awareness around how we, as individuals, can get involved and contribute to solving more cold cases.

OUR MISSION
To help expand DNA databases by growing public participation and guiding individuals on how to submit their DNA safely. To raise funds that offset testing costs and support law enforcement in solving more cold cases. To educate the public about this rapidly evolving technology and to open meaningful discussions about how DNA may influence violent behavior — and whether understanding it more deeply could help us identify and mitigate this epidemic.
